Hi I’m Oud in ChiangMai, Thailand
I’d like to ask you a question, In case the word “Loan”. Is it same “Rent” by meaning, if you think as the money is a thing,
the interest is a the meney for the rent and they both need to
return. But I think only one thing is different. “Loan” is used for money or Bank right?
I’m not sure, just try to make a definiton.
Thank you
Oud

Suthas

    loan=
noun…. a loan is a sum of money you borrow from someone.
    lend/lent is a verb.

‘rent’ can be a noun and a verb! — I owe my landlord the rent. (noun)
    Or a verb — “I rented a car!”

We don’t rent money but we can lend it!
    Hope that answers your questions~

abdikarim

Hello Ronnie ,
First of all ,Thank you very much for your great Effort and you are really amazing, talented and funny . in 03:37 about lend , you said : i have a car but you ( did not or do not have) ,i heard it (did not) !

I have a Q (for or to) you ,
what is the difference between parents’ and parent’s ?
thank you very much …,
shokran (thanks).
Ahmad , Egypt . :) $ > syphilis too !um dont use it ( many ? ) (a lot) .

ahmadhandasa

If you write “parent’s” then you’re talking about one parent. “That parent’s child is misbehaving a lot at school”. You’re only referring to a particular parent.
“Parents'” would be plural. “The parents’ child is misbehaving at school”. Now you’d be referring to both parents.
Look at whatever appears before the apostrophe.
My parent’s car = the car of my parent (only one person here)
My parents’ car = the car of my parents (parents = plural)
    Another example:
the girl’s book = the book of the girl (singular)
the girls’ book = the book of the girls (more than one)

    Ronnie

SO INTERESTING LESSON
THANK YOU A LOT

karim15

Thank u Teacher you’re very helpful I love the way u teach

Agron

Hi my dear. How are you?It was a great lesson as usual. Can I know what is your age?Do not think that I am an inquisitive person and if you would like not to answer please do not I will not get affended.Say please is there a big difference between American English and British English.I do learn British English and I have heard that if you know British English it would be very difficult for you to come in touch with Americans, I mean they will understand what are you talking about, but you will hardly do.Is this true?I have never been in America but I hope that day my dream will come true as IT is one of my GREATEST DREAMS!!!!

Hripsime

If you have learnt British English you can communicate with Americans! Don’t worry – it is still English – just some vocab. is different and of course the accents!

    Ronnie

Thank you so much Ronnie

    PAO

Thank you my teacher for explanation

But I have little problem

how to use ( rent ) exactly ??

because it is not understand

how to use ( rent )

Turkey

Rent = money to use something.
EX: I rent a car for the weekend. I give the rental company money, they let me use a car.
OR a monthly payment for an apartment/house.
The rent in Toronto is very expensive! A one bedroom apartment is about $800 per month!

I like your lesson very much! I very confuse two words: warrantand guarantee please explain the difference thank you very much.

rulian

Dear Ms Ronnie,
hello,
I am from Afghanistan, the videos are quite useful to all of us, i really enjoy and learn a lot,i watched your this video clip, your teaching methods is fabulous like always i say this, i am still confuse at some parts, and i hope you will reply me.

Will you lend me your car? Can i borrow your car? Is there any difference between these two sentences (requests), or they are same, 2. last night i borrowed huge amount of money from my friend, so i have to lend all money back or i have to return all the money back as soon as possible than it was too late i could not go to home on that time, my another friend me lend his room or loaned me his room.??? (correct or wrong) Need explaining while using these two words with money also the word use is not clear to me, you taught us in your video that whenever we use the word “USE” with a sentence it means you use something and you may not return it back, maybe someone forgets to return it back or trying to steal it. but i have heard a lot from people saying that, Can I use your Laptop for some minutes please? after using it the person has to return it back. Can i barrow your laptop for some minutes Please? Can you lend me your Laptop for some minutes please? Can i use your laptop for some minutes? Loan, lend and borrow, Are these three can be used with money? How?? I am totally confused with these three words. that shows my weakness, but i am trying to improve it, i never give up from something which i am weak at unless i find solution for it,need your support toward it. I hope you will response to me and thanks for the video clip. Sorry for asking.

Omaid

Will you lend me your car? Can i borrow your car?…..These are the same!!!
You have to pay money back…not lend.
A friend lent me his room or will lend me his room.
You can lend and borrow money or items!1 Your sentences are correct!!! Great work!

    Ronnie

Hello Ronnie.thank you so much for your lesson, everyday i learn new things from here,i admire so much your work.Congratulations.
when you have time could you make a lesson about to drag,to haul and to pull?

Dear Ronnie,
thank u for ur lesson, it is really helpful when i use those word. i have a confusedness about “truth, true and trust”, if it’s possible, could u please make a video about it?

ronle99

I know english pretty much already and I was like “oh, I won’t learn anything new from this”. But after watching it entirely I did learn something new (borrow vs rent thing; borrow vs use thing; the quote :))

crap

Can you do a video about helping verb for me?

ricocoldwata

what dose Borrow mean ?

Refaat 11

When someone gives you something of theirs that you will give back to them later on, you are borrowing it. For example, you borrow books from the library, or you might borrow a pencil from a classmate.

“…Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man…”

Max Gook

thank you very much

Aml Mounier

For us, Brasilians, borrow and lend are very confused because we use only one word to express bith meanings.

FernandoVM

That’s very interesting! English has another pair of words, “teach” and “learn”, that is also just one word in some languages. (In some dialects of English, “learn” can also be used to mean “teach”—but it is not standard.)

    engVid Moderator

For this pair, we also have two words: ensinar and aprender. But for land and borrow, just one: emprestar. Thanks for your comment.

      FernandoVM

Thank you Ms. Ronnie.
