I hadn't been at Abdallah's in years. I was working in the area and stopped for lunch. The place has many Mediterranean food items for sale and baked good. I went through the buffet line and chose a four item veggie plate. The food is quite tasty and there is fresh baked pita bread. The cubed potatoes are tangy like I like them. The bulgur is ok. What I don't like is that unlike other places where food is warm, they put your plate to heat up your veggie items in the microwave. Of course, the cold items are served separately. The serving is generous. This is a no frills place that's been around for years. I wish they would brighten up the place.

Being that I'm Lebanese and always yearning for food that tastes like what my family makes, it is not often that I really praise a Mediterranean restaurant. Houston has a number of good places, but Abdallah's is one of my favorites! The food is delicious no matter what I get. They have some of the best grape leaves in Houston. They have baked kibba as opposed to just fried kibba. Their fresh bread is delicious. I almost always pick up food when I'm in the area and always get grape leaves but then mix it up otherwise and have always liked what I order. Everyone I've taken there has enjoyed it. The workers are kind and efficient. I highly recommend!

Best manakeesh I have had in the houston area. Wish they had a woodlands location. Their baba Ghannoij is delicious too. They are very nice and the lady that makes the manakeesh is super nice. The place is small but worth the drive.

Staff knows you from years and years. Wait staff is cordial and make orders exactly as ordered. Hubs needs Shamarwa and son too. Tabouli, Babaghous, Pita and I needed two Cabbage Rolls. All were delicious except the Cabbage Rolls. Very large rolls, rice not cooked all the way and meat ratio to rice was off. Lacking flavor which was a big disappointment for me. Everything except rolls was eaten so all but me was happy. I will have to make them myself...I guess. Will still me a customer...

The jibne and zaatar manoushi was amazing, felt like we were back in lebanon. Customer service was amazing, always made sure we liked our food with a smile on their face. Definitely would recommend coming to this bakery for fresh Lebanese food.

Today my husband brought a Too Good To Go from Abdullah's. Wasn't home and he had no knowledge of my previous visits over the past years. The menu item today was fish and it was deliccious. The fish filet was a thick white fish, perhaps cod or haddock. It was lightly battered and topped with a delicious blend of perhaps spinach, cheese and was topped with fresh tomato slices and onion. It was accompanied with some type of delicious bread and salad which my husband enjoyed before I arrived home. Also thrown in was a bread pudding topped with pistachios. I commented about the sweet family who owned the restaurant. He agreed they are a lovely family. Too bad he didn't bring home thheir cheese stuffed bread! The food was the best I've had in a long time. Thank you Abdullah's for your continued service and always serving delicious food. We'll be back to visit soon. Best regards always!

I ventured to the source years ago and I keep going back. I'm always greeted with a smile from the family. The food is phenomenal! Fresh, delicious and always leaves me wanting more. I've bought items that I've served at cocktail parties, deserts, and the best Jordan almonds ever. I take all my out of town friends here. One of the best restaurants in Houston!

I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!!! I've been a customer for more than 30 years.
They make authentic, delicious food and serve very generous portions. I'm a huge fan of their spinach pies.
They also sell the spices and olive oil they cook with. The spices are in large containers and sold @ unbelievably low prices.
The olive oil is a beautiful flavor and isn't not the flavorless grocery store stuff. Be sure to get a bag of spinach pies for home because they are addictive!!!
I learned the owner's family has been growing and harvesting olives for multiple generations to make that the most gorgeous, delicious olive oil you'll ever eat.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 11, 2020Updated review
Another update:
Kibbeh nayeh (raw kibbeh / beef tartare) was perfectly made - and is available only on Saturdays.
The olive oil is fantastic as it here comes from the owner's family olive tree farm in Lebanon! Unfiltered and all-natural goodness, and each bottle is numbered. Artisanal olive oil at its best! Highly recommend.
Tabbouleh is the only thing I think that could be better - the taste wasn't exactly there but I think it's possibly because sometimes the flavor needs time to meld together if the parsley not fine enough. Hummus, baba ganoush, fatayer (spinach pies), fried cauliflower, za'atar manoushe, cheese manoushe, kibbeh balls, everything else were perfect and it would be hard to get all these better from a single place in Texas.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Dec 21, 2016Previous reviewStill one of my favorite places in Houston to get breakfast - Lebanese / Arabic style! Good strong and sweet Turkish coffee, and delicious foul mudamas (a middle eastern beans dish) that comes with piping fresh pita bread and accompaniments.
I can't seem to get away from this place!Dec 24, 2015Previous reviewThis is one of my favorite Lebanese bakeries.
Why?
Well, the mezze options (small bites/ Arabic tapas) are good, as they make their labneh and yogurt fresh, which is a nice change of place from places that used the product that comes out of the Middle Eastern markets' shelves. They accompany the mezze in a traditional manner, with mint, tomatoes, turnips, and pickles, and pita bread - of course. The pita bread is made fresh in-house, and it shows.
I came for breakfast, and besides having the labneh, I also had the egg mixed in with seasoned ground beef that's similar to taste to the awarma, the Lebanese-style of preserved meat - and they gave me a big plate of it which makes for a hearty breakfast.
And, least but not last of all, their mana'eesh (or Lebanese "pizzas) are superb. Nearby Cedars bakery gets the nod in having wide variety, but this place makes my favorite in quality - the pies are big, flavorful, not too thin, and not too thick. They're fresh, pillowy, and delicious all throughout, and easily one of the best in Texas.
And lastly - their kunafah gets noticed by word of mouth around town. Their kunafah, or dessert pastry comes with either cheese or cream. When I came, the cream one was just pulled out of the oven, and I had to order it. Theirs is super thick compared to other kunafah in other Arabic bakeries, which surprised me a bit but makes for a great deal. While I'm particular about the ratio, and maybe would have preferred to have a little less cream, it was still a great piece. Cream lovers would rejoice at this though. I would love to come back and try their cheese kunafah.
If only they can branch out and set up more locations throughout the state! I also liked that they had a small market component. - Patti C.Houston, TX01016Jul 8, 2023
Took this guy to eat Kibbeh Nayyeh , which is an Eastern Mediterranean dish popularized by the Lebanese mezze, the array of small plates you'd experience at a meal there. It consists of minced raw lamb mixed with fine bulgur and exotic spices
Kibbeh Nayyeh is often served with mint leaves , olive oil, and green onions , and it is then scooped with fresh pita bread . I prefer mine with a special garlic sauce . Don't forget to ask for that!
The reason @BrandonKerne is showing this very dramatic facial expression is because I like my Kibbeh with Jalapeños , but Armando, the sweet gentleman that prepared our plate , only had Serranos
It's been a long long time since I've been to Abdallah's and it's just as good as I remember. It's one of Houston's many family-owned treasures . Let me know what you think if you visit!
